POWER
TECHNOLOGIES OF ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS TOWARDS AVIATION DECARBONIZATION
Project description
POWER project aims to advance the enabling technologies necessary for the development of a fully electric propulsion system for more sustainable aircraft. Its goal is to support the decarbonization of aviation by addressing:
- functional and safety aspects of next-generation high-voltage contactors;
- high-efficiency high-voltage power conversion and distribution concepts;
- high-efficiency, high-power-density electric machines;
- smart integration, architecture, and topology of modular electric motors and MCUs to reduce overall system weight.
POWER also fosters key technological advances to accelerate sector decarbonization, aiming for net-zero aviation emissions by the 2050s.
To achieve these ambitious technical objectives, the consortium brings together leading companies with the expertise and proven track record necessary to tackle the project’s demanding challenges.
The project is funded by CDTI under file number 00165884/PTAG-20231007, through the 2023 call of the “Aeronautical Technology Program,” part of the State Program to Catalyze Innovation and Business Leadership within the 2021–2023 State Plan for Scientific, Technical, and Innovation Research, under the framework of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.
