NEOTAIL

New Optimized Empennage with Advanced Technologies for Laminarity Integration

Project description

AIRBUS OPERATIONS S.L. is participating in the development of the NEOTAIL project – New Optimized Empennage with Advanced Technologies for Laminarity Integration. The main objective of the NEOTAIL project is the optimized and multidisciplinary design of an advanced empennage, taking into account industrial requirements, and consequently, the development of high-performance equipment and facilities for future low-cost and high-rate manufacturing and assembly processes of composite material components and structures, as an alternative to current solutions in metallic materials. It is essential to adapt to the new low-cost and high-rate demands of the market, which will allow the Spanish aeronautical industrial network to maintain and enhance its competitive capacity.

This project is developed by a consortium of companies led by Airbus Operations and in which participate Compañía Española de Sistemas Aeronáuticos, M Torres, Aciturri Engineering, 3M and Tecnitest, with the support of several research organizations and technological centers.co, It has a total budget of 13.9 million euros, and a duration of 4 years to be implemented between 2020 and 2024.

This project is financially supported by the CDTI through its Programme for Strategic Research Projects in the CIEN consortium.
