ECONomizing the Circularity of AeRostructures focus on decarBONization

Project description

The aim of this project is to increase the application of composite materials in fuselage and empennage through the eco-design of highly weight-efficient aerostructures, incorporating circular economy solutions for composite materials wasted during manufacturing processes, as well as at the end of the aircraft's lifecycle.

Initiatives such as the one proposed in this project have a significant impact on positioning the Spanish industry as a global leader in the transformation toward more sustainable and efficient aviation.

The consortium developing the project is made up of AIRBUS OPERACIONES, FCC ÁMBITO, GRUPSON TRADE (TWISTECHNOLOGY), and IDEC. This project has been funded by the CDTI (Spanish Institute of Technology and Innovation), with the support of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, under file number MIG-20241002, through the 2024 call for proposals of the Science and Innovation Missions Program, within the Transfer and Collaboration Program of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2024-2027, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience European Plan.
