Project description

The main objective of the FLASH project is the research and development of technologies to manage and reduce flammability limits in a specific volume or compartment to create inert atmospheres in a potential aircraft that uses hydrogen as an energy carrier, with the aim of reducing the weight of the inerting system and simplifying its integration.

The FLASH project will allow for the adaptation of existing flammability reduction technologies based on air separation modules for potential use in a future hydrogen aircraft, as well as increasing the reliability of technologies currently serving the kerosene fleet. Additionally, the adaptation of both catalyst and vacuum systems to create an inert atmosphere will be analyzed, studying their potential application to the conventional fleet. This represents an advance in the current state of flammability reduction technologies for aeronautical use.
