ROBOCOMP

ROBOTICS & AUTOMATION FOR COMPOSITE COMPONENTS MANUFACTURING

Project description

Development of robotics & automation specific technologies for existing remaining manual processes enabling an E2E automation concept within composite manufacturing, in order to start filling the existing gap between current manufacturing technologies state of the art and processes (for rate 10 aircrafts) and future full automated manufacturing (for rate of more than 70 aircrafts).

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROBOCOMP PROJECT:

  • Automation of the currently manual manufacturing process for composite materials.
  • Involvement of the value chain inside the digital framework of the company and taking into account the cybersecurity industry requirements.
  • Achievement of alternative systems for composite material manufacturing technologies to reduce energy consumption.
  • Robustness of the technology leadership in manufacturing of composite materials with the ecosystem alignment.

Techno Gaps Challenge to develop in ROBOCOMP are focused on:

Non-value added Automation based on robotic technologies:

  • Preforms handling, mandrels movement, automatic bagging, automatic demoulding, elements handling.

Tooling and part preparation based on robotic technologies:

  • Release agent, part cleaning, sanding, masking.
  • Light robotics platform to manage different end-effectors and processes.

Robotic trimming, drilling, milling and deburring:

  • Accuracy studies and improvements for vertical mechanical operations.
  • New end effectors for automation and process monitoring embarking.
